Donata Cutuli is a council member of the Maria Grazia Cutuli Foundation. The foundation was established in Catania, Sicily, hometown of the journalist who tragically lost her life in the line of duty in 2001. Among its goals are the promotion and support of projects in the field of education and formation in journalism; favoring the reading of print and online daily newspapers and promoting journalistic culture through the study of the history of newspapers and their makers; stimulating research and striving for true freedom of press and complete information; helping young aspiring journalists, helping women that may encounter challenges in this profession; creating an environment of greater safety for journalists and communication operators that work in war or conflict-stricken areas, politically unstable areas or areas stricken by terrorism, or in territories afflicted by grave natural disasters.
