James Fontanella-Khan, born in 1983, is an Italian journalist, currently India Editor of the Financial Times online in Mumbai. Previously he worked in London for FT covering foreign affairs, as correspondent in Burkina Faso and in Italy during the 2006 elections. He was a regular commentator on politics and economics in Italy for BBC World and BBC Radio 5. As a freelance journalist he has reported stories from Birmania, South Korea, France, India, Iran, Great Britain and Nepal for Italian and British national publications. He studied at the Royal Holloway University of London (2004), the Sciences Po in Paris (2005), and the City University in London. Before leaving Italy for London, James was a semi-professional football player. He is a member of RENA.
