Enrico Mentana is the former director (from 1992 to 2004) of Channel 5 News, the leading Italian private TV news programme, and the former presenter (from 2005 to 2009) of Matrix, the flagship Channel 5 current affairs programme. He previously worked at the RAI as presenter of RAI 1 News and deputy director of RAI 2 News. RAI is the Italian public service broadcaster. He has won numerous journalism awards, including the 2003 Telegatto award, the 2004 Premio Arte e Cultura La Bagnaia and the 2008 Premio Regia Televisiva. He is the author of Passionaccia (2009).
