Paul Steiger is editor-in-chief of Propublica, a New York-based non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest. He was previously managing editor of The Wall Street Journal from 1991 to 2007. Under his leadership, journalists of The Wall Street Journal won 16 Pulitzer Prizes. He is also chairman of the Committee to Protect Journalists, a New York-based non-profit organization founded in 1981 to promote press freedom by working for the rights of journalists worldwide. He is a trustee of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, based in Miami, which supports transformative programs in areas including journalism and community development.
