Ugo Tramballi began his journalistic career in 1976 at Italian daily Il Giornale; since 1983 he has been special correspondent in the Middle East, India and Africa and war correspondent in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Angola. Between 1987 and 1991 he was Moscow correspondent. Since 1991 he is correspondent and columnist for daily Il Sole 24 Ore. He is a member of the Rome Institute for international affairs and the Italian Center for peace in the Middle East in Milan. He is author of Dentro l’India, gli uomini e le città (1988), Quando finirà l’inverno. Viaggio nella Russia del dopo Eltsin (1999), L’ulivo e le pietre (2002), Il sogno incompiuto (2008).
