Sofia Ventura is an associate professor at the University of Bologna for the political science and leadership courses at the R. Ruffili Political Science department, based in Forlì. She wrote, and later became the director of the bi-monthly politics culture magazine IdeAzione between 1994 and 1998. She is among the founders of the Libertiamo association along with Italian congressman Benedetto Della Vedova. She collaborates with the FareFuturo Foundation magazine, close to Gianfranco Fini. She has written several articles for national daily newspapers and a column for the daily Corriere della Sera of Bologna. She also wrote regularly for Rivista Italiana di Scienza Politica (2007-2009). In 2009, her accusations against Italian showgirls (veline) published on the FareFuturo web-magazine stirred a debate in the national and international press. She holds dual French and Italian citizenship, and is author of La politica scolastica (1998), La scuola tra Stato e Chiesa. La regolamentazione dell’insegnamento privato in Italia e in Francia (1998), Il federalismo (2002).
