Vitaly Yaroshevsky is deputy editor of the Russian daily Novaya gazeta. In 1973 he entered the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University and two years later went to Prague to study at Karlov University where he graduated in 1979. In the same year he joined the Russian news agency TASS. From 1981 to 1993 with a little pause in the process he worked as a correspondent of TASS in Prague. History was made before his eyes there when in 1989 the Velvet Revolution happened in the city. He still deeply cherishes the memory of this event. In 1993 he joined the weekly Obshaya gazeta under the supervision of famous editor and journalist Egor Yakovlev, before moving on to the dailies Izvestia and Moskovskie novosti. He has been deputy editor of Novaya gazeta since 2003.
