In a more and more polarized world with elections being the target of misinformation, fact-checkers have become part of the worldwide conversation around the battle against it. Their work is diminished by some and exalted by others but what are fact-checkers actually doing?

Fact-checking has evolved in the last three years more than it had in the previous decade, with approaches that go from AI and automated fact-checking to community building and engaged journalism to be more impactful, or deploying media literacy strategies to reach as much of the population as possible. Fact-checkers are the first to be aware that labelling content or being influential at high political levels is not enough and they are launching innovative approaches to solve it. The panel will bring together some of the leaders within the fact-checking community to see what’s ahead.
