
Carsten von Nahmen is Managing Director of DW Akademie, Deutsche Welle's center for international media development, journalism training, and knowledge transfer. He was appointed to the role in 2018. He previously served as DW's Senior Correspondent in Washington, following his role as Head of News and Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Prior to that, he led media development projects for DW Akademie in Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.
Earlier in his career, von Nahmen worked as a freelance reporter and political correspondent for DW and other media outlets, including WDR, Frankfurter Rundschau, WELT and the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, after beginning his career at Deutsche Welle as a trainee in 1992.
