Irene Jay Liu leads the International Fund for Public Interest Media's work on AI, Emerging Tech and Regulation after serving as its director for Asia & the Pacific.

Previously, she worked for Google News Lab in the Asia-Pacific region, where she developed and drove implementation of the News Lab's regional and in-country strategies and managed a distributed team based in seven countries. Earlier, she was a Hong Kong-based investigative reporter and data editor at Reuters, where she was a 2017 Pulitzer finalist in the national reporting category.
