With local news outlets shuttering, what does this mean for the future of informed and engaged communities? While the outlook can seem bleak, news scarcity has given rise to a promising new cohort of non-profit news organizations. What will it take to sustain these newsrooms in the future? The durability and success of local news will ultimately require support for the entire ecosystem and localized and expanded services for local news. That's where larger, established news organizations can play a critical role providing scale, expertise, and services for local news. At this panel we will bring together leaders from local news, philanthropy, and large scale news organizations to hear more about new models and approaches to supporting the whole news ecosystem to the benefit of all.
