Philipp M. Schulmeister heads the European Parliament’s Public Opinion Monitoring Unit, taking citizens' temperature on their perceptions and expectations towards the EU and specifically the European Parliament. Austrian by nationality, lawyer by education and communicator by passion he has been working in different roles in the European Parliament for twenty years. His current role combines conducting regular opinion surveys via Parliament’s own Eurobarometer surveys, making this data operational for the strategic communication efforts of the European Parliament and, last but not least, monitoring developments in the political landscape in all EU Member States with a view to establishing reliable seat projections for the upcoming European elections in May 2019.
