Retha Langa joined Africa Check as deputy director in August 2019. Africa Check is the continent’s leading independent fact-checking organisation, set up in 2012 to promote accuracy in public debate. Africa Check sorts fact from fiction and seeks to reduce the spread and impact of misinformation and promote accurate, evidence-based understanding.
Retha has over a decade of experience across various sectors including media, development and entrepreneurship. She is driven by a desire to do meaningful work that matters. Retha started her career as a journalist and later moved into the non-profit space. She holds a PhD in heritage from the University of the Witwatersrand.
