With all the scandals (LuxLeaks, Paradise Papers, etc.) the importance of quality journalism is obvious. Researchers from the University of Hamburg are now looking into the topic to analyse the different options and also make recommendations for the political level. The panel will provide and seek further input about what would be useful (and what wouldn’t) - to try then yo give the necessary support on the political level. The study should be finalised by the beginning of 2018. In addition, the Hungarian Greens/EFA MEP Benedek Javór is currently building a network for financing journalism especially in countries where it is under threat, such as Hungary or Poland.
